Born:
1921 in Constantinople (of parents originating from the Dodecanese)

Married:
1944 to Painter-Stage Designer George Vakalo (1902-1991). 
Her son Manos Vakalo (1946-2000) was Professor of Architecture at Michigan University USA.

Education:
Archaeology, Athens University, Faculty of Philosophy
Specialisation in Art History at Sorbonne, Paris.

Work:
- Art Reviewer for Daily Athens Newspaper “Ta Nea”, 1952-1974 (with a two-year interruption during the dictatorship years)
- Art Critic for the Art Journal “Zygos”, 1955-1967
- Founding Member of Vakalo School of Art and Design (1958)
- Member of the Board of Directors of the School (1958-to date)
- Teacher of Art History and Theory at the School (1958-1990)
- Contributed articles and essays to various journals. Lectures, seminars and radio programmes on art.
- Member of the Board of Directors of the Greek National Gallery, Athens (1994-to date)
